Tall French Bobbin Stool

A tall stool like this stood where the work happened standing, pulled up to a counter or a high bench for the long jobs done on your feet. Its round seat, dished and ringed at the center, rides high on three bobbin legs joined low by a turned stretcher and splayed for balance. Three legs never rocked on an uneven floor the way a fourth would, which is why the country stool almost always had exactly this many. Sylvie would pull it up to a kitchen island or a high work table, or stand a trailing plant on it in a corner.
