Midcentury Blue Armchairs - Set of 2

Built like small architecture, all solid-wood angles softened by a generous cushion of cobalt. Found in Avignon and made in the mid-century, each pairs a boxy wooden frame with a bolster back and a deep tufted seat, a little shelf built into the back to set down a drink or a book. The look is French brutalism of the 1960s and 70s, when lounge chairs were built from frank, solid wood with the joinery left to show, the style designers like Guillerme et Chambron made their name on. A set of two, Sylvie would set them facing a fireplace or angled toward each other in a reading corner, blue and solid and made to be sat in for hours.
