Antique One-Of-A-Kind Rare

By an armchair in the evening, a little table like this held the knitting or the needlework, close at hand and light enough to carry from room to room. Found in Avignon and made in the early 20th century, it lifts a rimmed top over a single drawer, standing on two shaped end supports joined by a stretcher pierced with round holes. The French call it a tricoteuse, a knitting table, the raised edge keeping the balls of yarn from rolling to the floor and the little holes below made to hold the reels and tools within reach. Sylvie would set it beside a reading chair for a lamp and a book, the drawer keeping whatever a quiet evening needs close by.

Dear collector, as with many antiques, this piece may show signs of its age, including subtle repairs, movement, cracks, scratches, small holes, and surface variation from years of use. The finish has been sanded back to raw wood, and the drawer beneath the tabletop functions properly. The piece rocks back and forth slightly when pushed but is fully functional.
