Charles Dudouyt Chairs - Set of 4

France, 20th Century

Vintage Set of 4 Sylvie Favorite

Collectors chase Charles Dudouyt, and a matched set of four attributed to him is the kind of thing that rarely surfaces at all. Found in Montpelier and dating to the 1940s, they are oak, tall ladder-backs crowned with turned ball finials above deep rush seats, on round legs braced by plain stretchers. Dudouyt's gift was to make prized design look as though it came from a farmhouse, oak and rush worked into something far more coveted than the country chair it resembles. Sylvie sets them around a simple wood table, where their tall backs and round finials do all the work a plain room needs.

Minor variations from the images may occur unless otherwise noted. All sales are final.
