Spanish Blue Cupboard

Spain, 19th Century

$1,495

Antique One-Of-A-Kind Wood

It still carries its original key, the small iron one that has stayed with it all this time, still turning the same lock it always has. Found in Montpellier, it opens on two panelled doors under soft worn blue, a diamond escutcheon at the center and two deep shelves within. The iron rings across the top mean this Spanish cupboard was made to hang on a wall as readily as stand on the floor, the old way of keeping things up off the damp and out of reach. Sylvie would hang it in a kitchen for the everyday china, or stand it in a hall and let the blue do the talking.
