Antique One-Of-A-Kind Textile Collector's Item

Two birds keep company in a woven woods, one bright in the high branches and one stepping through the grass below, a château rising by the water beyond the trees. Found in Montpellier and dating to the 19th century, it keeps its original woven border of flowers and fruit, framing tall trees that open onto a soft blue distance. A green landscape like this is a verdure, the specialty of the Aubusson looms, woven to bring a whole forest indoors and hang the outdoors on a wall. Sylvie would give it a large bare wall of its own and let the room fall quiet around it.

Notes from Sylvie:

Dear collector, this piece may show sun-faded color and a few loose threads. It’s all part of its age and character, just the way we like it. The weaving is in very good condition, with burlap reinforcement along the upper back edge and one part of a Velcro loop strip for hanging.
