Cantor Stool
France, 20th Century
$495
Cantor stools, or tabourets de chantre, originated in 17th-century France as functional seating for church cantors during services. Crafted from sturdy oak, these stools feature a distinctive triangle shape with a flat back, allowing them to sit flush against choir stalls or walls. Sylvie loves to use them as side tables flanking a sofa, positioned in an entryway, or placed beside a bed.
