18th c. Lorraine Chair

France, 18th Century

$395

Oh So French!

A real 18th century Lorraine chair! The ladder-style back has those sweet little scalloped cutouts, the seat is a simple plank, and the turned legs are tied together with sturdy stretchers so it could survive centuries of long meals and longer conversations. These were everyday workhorses in rural French homes, pulled up to the table, the hearth, and anywhere a body needed to sit down for a minute. The wood shows honest wear and soft rounding from use, and each chair varies slightly in tone and grain, as it should. Six available, sold individually.

Minor variations from the images may occur unless otherwise noted. All sales are final.
