A board that’s done its fair share of chopping. Found in Barjac and dating to the 19th century, this hand-carved wooden board shows deep knife marks and soft edges from generations of use. Its rectangular shape and thick handle give it a sturdy, architectural presence that works as well for serving as it once did for prep. Sylvie leans hers against the backsplash, layering it with other boards to build quiet texture in the kitchen, but it comes out most nights for an impromptu cheese board to accompany an aperitif.
