Oh So French!
Wood
18th c. Oak Desk
France, 18th Century
$1,995
This is the kind of piece that screams one of a kind. Found in Avignon and carved from pale oak, this 18th-century piece features richly detailed floral motifs and turned barley twist legs joined by an ornate stretcher. The craftsmanship hints at the Louis XIII style, where sculptural form met everyday function. Once used as a writing table in a provincial study, its single front drawer kept letters, ledgers, and ink neatly tucked away. The light tone of the wood shows every trace of its handwork, a testament to centuries of care. Sylvie loves it as a statement desk or console, paired with a simple chair and a stack of well-thumbed books.

Notes from Sylvie:
The finish on this piece has worn away leaving a light toned raw wood. It has been repaired over the years but still work perfectly with one drawer in front. As with many antiques, this piece may show gentle repairs, cracks, scratches, holes, years worth of patina, and stains - just the way we like it.
