Straight out of the Alps and when we spotted it, our breath was taken away. Dated 1895, this carved wooden bread box hails from an Alpine home where it once kept loaves cool and safe from curious hands. The top lifts open to reveal a latticed interior shelf for daily bread, while hidden doors at the lower front give access to a secret compartment below. Its turned spindle sides and circular motifs speak to 19th-century craftsmanship at its most playful. Sylvie swears this one’s not just storage- it’s conversation bait. The best detail? It's date is engraved as proof of its age.
