This small table has one job to do, and it does it well. Found in Avignon and dating to the 19th century, this Spanish side table was originally made as a utilitarian household piece, hand built with thick planks, visible joinery, and a single drawer for storing everyday necessities close at hand. The slightly tapered legs, scalloped apron, and irregular surface marks all speak to its hand carved construction and working life rather than decorative excess, with wear concentrated where hands would have reached for the drawer day after day. Today, this works beautifully beside a couch or chair as a compact side table, or as a bedside table where its drawer keeps essentials within easy reach.
