17th C. Spanish Stool

Spain, 17th Century

$595

Talk about rare. Sylvie pulled this 17th-century Spanish stool out of a masia in Catalonia, the kind of piece that’s been orbiting family life since the 1600s. The carved backrest is hinged, cut by hand with bold geometric motifs, and the seat is a thick slab of wood held by an iron stretcher that still shows its original twist. Sylvie loves it as an accent chair or hallway perch, adding sculptural presence without taking up much space.

  • Dimensions:

    23" H x 19" W x 10" D (seat height 15")

  • Material:

    Wood and metal stringers

  • Notes from Sylvie:

Please note that one of the wood slats that supports the back was broken off years ago. (pictured in last image) It still functions, but we do advise being gentle with it and not putting your whole weight against the back of this sweet little chair.
