This Tuscan pine cupboard, found on its way from Italy with a life already lived, shows off beautifully cut dovetail joints and diagonally latticed doors that secure with a simple metal pin at the top. The open latticework was originally designed to allow air circulation around stored food, which kept produce, cheeses, and breads from spoiling in warm kitchens before refrigeration. Inside are two sturdy shelves. It still stands solid and still brings all the usefulness and character that made her stop in her tracks.
