18th c. Jardiniere

France, 18th Century

$395

Antique

One-Of-A-Kind

Exactly As Pictured

Now this is how you serve cherries! An 18th century faience jardinière, octagonal and hand-painted in bright cobalt on cream, with molded rope-style handles and tiny pad feet that give it that satisfyingly grounded Provençal stance. Originally made to hold plants or cut flowers on a hearth or terrace, it was sourced from a private collection in Provence after Simon welcomed Sylvie into his bastide and let her take her pick. The glaze shows fine crazing, a few light rim nibbles, and soft wear consistent with its age. Sylvie loves it filled with cherries, or parked on a kitchen shelf to corral oils, spices, or other jars. One handle is missing, which is reflected in the price.

Minor variations from the images may occur unless otherwise noted. All sales are final.
