Now this is how you serve cherries! An 18th century faience jardinière, octagonal and hand-painted in bright cobalt on cream, with molded rope-style handles and tiny pad feet that give it that satisfyingly grounded Provençal stance. Originally made to hold plants or cut flowers on a hearth or terrace, it was sourced from a private collection in Provence after Simon welcomed Sylvie into his bastide and let her take her pick. The glaze shows fine crazing, a few light rim nibbles, and soft wear consistent with its age. Sylvie loves it filled with cherries, or parked on a kitchen shelf to corral oils, spices, or other jars.
