This beauty came out of a prestigious textile shop in Lyon, built in the 1940s when the city still revolved around silk and cloth. Long and grounded in pine, the top is wide and worn from years of measuring and cutting, with five shallow drawers tucked just beneath for tools and small notions. Below, open shelving runs the full length, divided into compartments that once held neatly folded fabric within arm’s reach. It was made at standing height so merchants could work comfortably with long lengths of cloth, and that scale still reads. Sylvie uses it as a sideboard, stacked with linens, ceramic bowls and all of her bits and bobs.
