She's very old, just the way we like it. This 18th-century Henri II side table has a single drawer with its original iron pull. The turned legs are joined by a low stretcher base, and the thick top shows wear along the edges and surface from long use. Tables like this were kept close for candles, letters, or a book at the end of the day and were made for daily living, not display. Sylvie places it beside a sofa or in an entry, where the dark walnut and simple form settle the room immediately.
