Found in Montpellier and originally from Catalonia, this 18th-century armari de cuina amb prestatges was built for a working kitchen at the center of the home. The lower cupboard kept staple goods and linens protected, the drawers held smaller tools, and the open shelves above stayed in daily rotation with ceramics and tableware. It’s solid wood with pegged joinery and hand-forged hardware, the darker tone built up over time from use and proximity to a fire. The diamond panels and scalloped edges are classic Catalan details, simple and repeated. Sylvie keeps it filled with stacked plates, jars, and folded linens, everything close at hand for whatever is cooking.
