Alsace Chair

France, 19th Century

$395

Antique

One-Of-A-Kind

Rare

This is the kind of chair you spot from across the room and immediately start rearranging things for. Found in Alsace and dating to the 19th century, it’s carved from dark-stained hardwood with a bold circular backrest, centered by a star cut-out and ringed with simple geometric detailing. It comes out of a regional tradition where everyday furniture carried a strong point of view, shaped through carving and silhouette rather than excess. Originally made for the table, but Sylvie pulls it slightly off the wall or pairs it with a small piece so it can fully hold its own.

Minor variations from the images may occur unless otherwise noted. All sales are final.
