This is one of those pieces that makes total sense once you know what it was. Dating to the early 20th century, this cabinet was originally used in a post office, built to keep the constant flow of letters and documents moving through by hand - each drawer assigned, opened, closed, repeated all day long. The construction reflects that kind of use: sturdy and straightforward. Sylvie loves it in a space that actually functions - top drawer for keys and the things you grab on your way out, middle shelf stacked with books you’re halfway through, lower drawers a mix of papers, cables, whatever hasn’t found a better system yet. It should feel used, a little imperfect, and completely yours.
