Found outside Lyon from a dealer we've worked with for years, this vintage French glass pedestal dish came from his father's collection, built up over decades of looking. The bowl is pressed in a soft swirling rib pattern with a scalloped rim, the pedestal twisted to match, the whole thing catching light from every angle. Pedestal dishes like this were the standard of a French dessert table from the late 19th century on, raised up so the fruit or the cake could be seen from across the room. Sylvie sets it out with a pile of summer stone fruit, or fills it with chocolates and lets people help themselves through the evening.
