Vintage Glass Pedestal Dish - I

Found outside Lyon, this footed glass dish came from a dealer we have known for years, out of a collection his father spent decades building. It is a round dish in pressed clear glass, a shallow bowl edged with a fine sawtooth rim, raised on a shaped stem and a fluted foot. A dish like this is a compote, made to raise fruit or sweets up off the table where they could be seen and reached for. Sylvie fills it with grapes and sets it on the table, a bunch tumbling over the rim.
