Vintage Glass Cloche - II

Found outside Lyon, this glass cloche came from a dealer we have known for years, out of a collection his father spent decades building. It is a clear glass dome ribbed all the way from the rim up to a small knob at the top. A glass dome did what a wooden or tin cover could not, keeping whatever sat under it fresh and out of the air while still leaving it in full view. Sylvie sets it over a wedge of cheese or a bowl of fruit, the ribs bending the light and whatever waits underneath.
