French Gilt Mirror

France, 20th Century

$495

Antique One-Of-A-Kind Styling Essential

Found in Avignon, this 20th-century giltwood mirror takes its shape from the Rococo, all scrolls and a carved shell crest, the glass softly spotted with age. The style came out of 18th-century France, where a gilt mirror was as much about light as looks, hung to catch the candles and throw a little more brightness back into the room. Sylvie leans it on a dresser or hangs it low over a washbasin where it catches the morning light.

Minor variations from the images may occur unless otherwise noted. All sales are final.
