Ooh la la! Found in Villeneuve-lès-Avignon, this 20th-century mirror is really an excuse for the ironwork around it. Every curl in the frame was bent by hand at the forge, dozens of little scrolls spun out from the glass like rays and tipped with small iron balls so the whole thing reads as a sunburst on the wall. The mirror is almost beside the point, the kind of piece a blacksmith made to show what iron could be talked into doing. Sylvie hangs it where it catches the light, in an entry or over a basin, less for checking your reflection than for the shadow the scrollwork throws.
