France, 19th Century

$225

Antique

One-Of-A-Kind

Exactly As Pictured

This piece dates to the 19th century and was made in the Saint-Amand-en-Puisaye region, an important pottery center where ceramics have been produced since the 14th century. From there, merchants carried it west along the Loire River, distributing wares like this across France as far as the Nantes region. This example was discovered in a wine house in Chinon. Pieces of this kind served everyday needs, used for water, wine, or milk, and sometimes for preserving meats and other provisions.

Minor variations from the images may occur unless otherwise noted. All sales are final.
