Found in Auvergne and dating to the 19th century, this large terracotta vessel would have been used for preserving food - most likely confit - its glazed interior designed to hold fats and seal in whatever was stored inside. The form is generous and grounded, with two side handles built for carrying when full, and a wide opening that made it easy to reach into daily. The interior glaze has held its warm amber tone, while the exterior shows the darker markings of a life spent close to the hearth. Sylvie loves it sitting out in the kitchen, filled with flowers.
