Rare Yellow Cruche

France, 19th Century

$295

Found in Vauvert and dating to the 19th century, this vintage yellow-glazed terracotta cruche- also called an orjol- once held water or wine in farmhouses across southern France. Hand-thrown with a rounded body and slender neck, it shows off that classic contrast between glossy glaze and raw terracotta. Sylvie loves it as a bright accent on open shelving or the centerpiece of a kitchen table.
