Saint Uze Tureen
France, 20th Century
$135
Saint-Uze pottery, or Bleus de Saint-Uze, has been celebrated since the early 1800s in the Drôme region of France, where creamy earthenware was hand-decorated with cobalt-blue motifs for rural kitchens. This small Saint-Uze tureen, likely once used to hold pâté, carries that legacy with its floral detailing, delicate glaze, and a few tiny chips that speak to its long service. Sylvie uncovered it in Pezanes and imagines it living on as a countertop catch-all for utensils or stealing the spotlight on a table filled with fresh bread and butter.
