Found outside Lyon from a dealer we've worked with for years, this vintage French glass piece came from his father's collection, built up over decades of looking. The pressed glass is cut in a shallow dish on a fluted stem, the rim finished in a row of small points that catch the light around the whole edge. Stands like it were made to raise fruit or sweets up off the table and into the center of things, a small pedestal for whatever was worth showing. Sylvie piles it with cherries and leaves it out on the table, the kind of piece that looks like nothing until it is full.
