This came out of Barjac, 19th century, the kind of board that would have stayed within reach on a kitchen wall, taken down and put back all day long. The form is generous and slightly irregular, with a thick, rounded handle worn smooth where hands would have gripped it over decades. The surface shows deep knife marks that gather toward the center, alongside darker areas from oils and repeated use, all of it settling into a warm, even tone. Built from a single plank, it carries the quiet evidence of daily preparation rather than display. Sylvie leans it against a backsplash or sets it flat on a kitchen counter, exactly where it earns its place again.
