If this board could talk, it would absolutely have standards about bread. Found in Villeneuve-lès-Avignon and dating to the early 20th century, this small hand-carved wooden cutting board bears the fine knife marks and softened edges that come from daily slicing in a working farmhouse kitchen. Its tall rectangular form and rounded handle give it a quietly sculptural presence, whether in use or at rest. Once a practical surface for bread and produce, it now leans just as beautifully against a backsplash, layered with others in varied shapes and tones, because one is rarely enough.
