The most magical part of this 19th century bowl are its repairs. It's stitches that are visible around the exterior are signs of prior use, a piece valued so much that it was worth fixing and past on through generations. This was used for mixing foods, mostly Spanish sausage and hand made around the year 1800. The glaze was used to keep food fresh and these bowls would be stored in cool underground cellars.

Catalonia, a region rich in history and culture, has long been known for its distinct identity within Spain. From its medieval origins as a powerful principality to its modern-day status as an autonomous community, Catalonia has preserved its unique traditions and language.

A key feature of the Catalonian countryside is the Masia, traditional farmhouses dating back centuries, often serving as the heart of agricultural life. These stone-built structures, with their thick walls and rustic charm, were designed to be self-sufficient, housing families, livestock, and crops under one roof.

This particular item was unearthed in a 1750 Masia, a place steeped in history, where generations have passed down stories and traditions, making it a true artifact of Catalonia’s enduring heritage.
