The Horse Stable Bench

France, 20th Century

$595

Discovered in horse stables at a chateau near Aix-en-Provence, this very long French bench shows perfect age and patina with a weathered grey surface and slightly rusted hardware. She's old and has seen a century worth of things so Sylvie recommends using this as a decorative piece lining long hallways, king size beds and empty walls.

  • Dimensions:

    17" H x 99" W x 8" D

  • Materials:

    Wood

  • Weight Range:

    15 lbs

  • Notes from Sylvie:

My dear, This bench is very weathered and old. Often when its sitting on the floor, one of the three feet is a little off the ground, and a couple of the screws are a little loose. Its definetly not the most sturdy bench, we would recommend not putting alot of weight on it- use it for more decorative purposes.

Sylvie found this bench hidden by hundreds of doors at the Chateau Graveyard. It was originally unearthed like a buried treasure from the grounds of a forgotten chateau near Aix, lining the horse stables that had fallen into ruin.

A tale so magical, we barely believe it. The story of this collection begins in the heart of Aix-en-Provence, where whispers led us to an extraordinary discovery—a resting place for the remnants of chateaus long forgotten. This ‘graveyard’ was unlike anything Sylvie had ever encountered.

Amidst the ruins, each piece seemed to carry the echoes of noble homes, some felled by earthquakes, others abandoned and left to time. It was a place of lost grandeur, where fragments of history lay waiting. Sylvie handpicked her favorites from these forgotten treasures, breathing new life into each one, and sometimes, a new purpose. This collection is a revival of French history, offering pieces once thought lost to time.
