Once the pride of a provincial French table, this blue and white ceramic tureen would have been brought out for family meals, filled with soupe à l’oignon or a velouté made from yesterday’s garden produce. The gently sloping lid and floral bands are classic of late 19th-century faience. Sylvie loves it as a punch bowl at a summer gathering or filled with chilled gazpacho for a languid outdoor lunch.
