This medium Spanish marble mortar is carved from striking white marble with soft grey veining that runs subtly through the stone. Originally used for crushing herbs, spices, garlic, and simple medicinal mixtures, its smooth interior shows the quiet wear of daily use. The rounded form and small side grips give it a sculptural presence, equally beautiful left on the counter or put back to work for salt, pesto, or aioli.
