Catalan Table

Spain, 18th Century

This desk originated in Northern Spain in 1760. Thats's right. 1760. She's old, but she has aged like Spanish wine - beautifully. This desk features a single piece of walnut as her top, and exquisite traditional hand carved legs joined by an iron stretcher. This is the kind of desk you pass down to your children. Extremely rare, and extremely beautiful.

This was a find we wont soon forget. A stunning example of Spanish craftsmanship, this piece was hand carved in 1760 in Northern Spain and is in exceptional condition. Sylvie uncovered this treasure in a Catalonian Masia, and was drawn to the intricate hand carved legs held together by a hand made wrought iron stretcher.

Catalonia, a region rich in history and culture, has long been known for its distinct identity within Spain. From its medieval origins as a powerful principality to its modern-day status as an autonomous community, Catalonia has preserved its unique traditions and language.

A key feature of the Catalonian countryside is the Masia, traditional farmhouses dating back centuries, often serving as the heart of agricultural life. These stone-built structures, with their thick walls and rustic charm, were designed to be self-sufficient, housing families, livestock, and crops under one roof.

This particular item was unearthed in a 1750 Masia, a place steeped in history, where generations have passed down stories and traditions, making it a true artifact of Catalonia’s enduring heritage.
