The Gemini Planter

France, 19th Century

$1,795

This is a piece we will never find again—a piece with history and a piece that we can guarantee no one else will have.. The Gemini planter is a heavy, rare piece featuring two hauntingly detailed faces frozen in a silent, ancient gaze. Once proudly displayed as a water feature in a château garden, now finds its place on a shadowy overgrown terrace or in a quiet living room corner, infusing the space with an air of mystery and intrigue.

    20" H x 24" W x 18" D

  • Materials:

    Stone

  • Weight Range:

    100 lbs

  • Notes from Sylvie:

My dear, this one is VERY heavy. It has a metal rod that sticks out from the interior well and minor chips to the base. You can see the weathered surface and remnants of the vines that used to cover it.

Sylvie found this masterpiece in the Chateau Graveyard, however she originally came from the long-forgotten gardens of a château. A fragment of a stone fountain in the front courtyard had been overtaken by vines and weathered by years of neglect. At its heart sat a grand urn, with two faces carved into its sides, once the focal point of the fountain’s gentle waters. For years, the fountain had stood dry, the urn silently watching as nature reclaimed the space around it. When the restoration crew cleared away the overgrowth, the urn emerged, its stone faces still gazing as if remembering the days when water danced around them.
