Antique One-Of-A-Kind Sylvie Favorite

In a farmhouse the big table did everything, meals and bread-making, letters and card games, the one surface a whole family's life passed across. Found in Normandy and dating to the late 19th century, it is long and low in stripped, pale wood, a plank top on four square tapered legs joined by a stretcher near the floor. Long enough to seat a family down both sides, it was built strong and simple to take generations of daily use, which is why so many of these tables outlived the farms they were made for. Sylvie sets it as a dining table with chairs down both sides, or gives it over to a big project, long enough to spread a whole afternoon's work across.

Dear collector, as with many antiques, this piece may show subtle repairs, movement, cracks, scratches, small holes, and surface variation from years of use. The surface shows water marks, scratches, and traces of paint. The base of one table leg has been previously repaired. The height from the floor to the bottom of the apron is 24.5".
