French Stool

France, 20th Century

$395

Vintage One-Of-A-Kind Exactly As Pictured

Found in Avignon, this stool turns its three legs into the whole show, each one cut in its own pattern of rings and ridges, no two quite alike. A round seat sits above them, dished and carved with a spiral at its center, the whole thing low to the ground on splayed feet. Stools like this were the plainest thing in a country house, which is exactly what makes one this worked over such a find, a farmhouse seat a woodworker clearly made for the pleasure of it. Sylvie would set it by a fireplace or under a window, small enough to move with a foot and far too good-looking to tuck away.

Minor variations from the images may occur unless otherwise noted. All sales are final.
