Vintage Glass Cloche - II

Outside Lyon there is a dealer we have known for years, and the loveliest things always come from the same place, his father's collection, built up over a lifetime of looking. This glass cloche came from that collection, a dome cut all over in a diamond lattice and hobnail panels, topped with a faceted knob to lift it by. It has the weight and the shine of old glass, curving the light and turning whatever sits beneath it into something worth a second look. Sylvie sets it over a wedge of cheese or a little cake, or a few small things she simply wants to keep.
