Oak Monastary Table

France, 19th Century

Sylvie Favorite

Heavy and handsome, this early 20th-century oak monastery table was found near Avignon. Its rounded top and double pedestal legs echo the medieval form, built to survive decades of refectory meals and farmhouse suppers. The oak has aged to a soft sheen, every mark a trace of use. Sylvie sees it now as the anchor for dinners that stretch late into the night - pasta steaming, bottles uncorked, conversation circling long after the plates are cleared.

Minor variations from the images may occur unless otherwise noted. All sales are final.

This table has been sanded down to the beautiful raw wood with a slight yellowish hue. Like many well made trestle tables it can come apart into individual pieces.
