One-Of-A-Kind

This floor-length mirror channels the charm of mid-century faux bamboo. Found in Lyon, it’s carved to mimic bamboo canes, a style that took off in Europe and the US in the 19th century when makers began interpreting East Asian bamboo furniture through their own lens. Instead of importing bamboo, workshops carved hardwood to imitate the nodes and ridges, creating pieces that had the look of bamboo but the durability of oak, beech, or pine. Sylvie loves it in an entryway or bedroom where the carved frame can bring a subtle bit of texture.
