One-Of-A-Kind

This 18th-century oil painting captures a solitary writer at his desk, paused mid-thought. The light is pulled straight to his hands and the papers in front of him, which is exactly what makes the scene feel so intimate. It’s set in an ornate gilt frame carved with scrolling foliage and classical motifs. Painted as a quiet tribute to study and reflection, it still carries that old-world respect for solitude. Sylvie loves it in a library or study, where it makes the whole room feel introspective.

Minor variations from the images may occur unless otherwise noted. All sales are final.

This canvas is in remarkably good condition with only one small chip of paint missing in the bottom of the canvas. There is a slight gap on the bottom left between the canvas frame. The intricate gilt frame has cracks in each mitred corner and some chips of plaster are missing at the very edges. Its very solid and has stood up well to history and changing hands.
