Found in Italy, this 19th century carved wooden church candle holder would have once sat on an altar or side chapel, holding candles during mass and daily prayer. Hand carved from a single block of wood, it features a bold floral rosette across the front and two candle wells at the top, a simple but expressive bit of craftsmanship typical of provincial church pieces. The wood has aged beautifully with visible cracks and wear from more than a century of use. Sylvie loves it on a mantel with two taper candles lit in the evening.
