Sylvie Favorite

One-Of-A-Kind

It was love at first sight. This rare 19th-century console table has three turned barley-twist legs on each side, joined by a low stretcher base and topped with a narrow plank surface worn smooth over time. It would have stood along a wall in a dining room or entry, set with candlesticks or serving pieces while people passed in and out of the room. The center of the house stayed clear, and the table quietly held what was needed. Sylvie places it along a wall where it naturally gathers a lamp, a bowl, or whatever was just carried in, the dark walnut and twisting legs catching the light as you pass.
