One-Of-A-Kind

This vintage tapestry, mounted on an oval plywood backing, shows an 18th-century fête galante scene with figures in powdered wigs, tailored coats, and full skirts gathered beneath tall trees. The textile dates to the early 20th century, with warm sepia tones leading the scene and soft hints of blue and cream woven through the landscape and clothing. Sylvie leans it on a mantel or hangs it in a hallway, where the oval shape and detailed scene draw people in.

Minor variations from the images may occur unless otherwise noted. All sales are final.

  • Notes from Sylvie:

Please note: The edge of this textile is not finished, it has loose threads and the raw edge of masonite. The tapestry fragment was glued down so the piece is stable, but the edge is slightly frayed with a few loose threads. We think that only adds to its charm.
