Lyon Painted Cupboard

France, 20th Century

Antique

One-Of-A-Kind

Sylvie Favorite

Found in Villeneuve-lès-Avignon and originally from Lyon, this early 20th century display cupboard came out of a farm where pieces like this were used to store and show everyday kitchenware, preserves, and glassware. It’s made in two parts, with a glazed upper cabinet and a closed base below. The painted finish sits somewhere between butter yellow and off-white, worn back in places to reveal the wood beneath. Sylvie loves it filled in a way that feels personal - stacks of plates you actually use, a few glasses, books tucked in where they fit, nothing too arranged.

Minor variations from the images may occur unless otherwise noted. All sales are final.
