Vintage Glass Cloche - I

Found outside Lyon, this glass cloche came from a dealer we have known for years, out of a collection his father spent decades building. It is a clear glass dome patterned all over with stars and diamonds, topped with a little knob to lift it by. The point of a glass dome over a wooden or tin one was that it kept the cheese or the cake covered and still let you see it, protected but never out of sight. Sylvie sets it over a cheese or a half-eaten cake on the counter, the pattern throwing a bit of light around.
